Innovation doesn’t happen in a vacuum. At Nelo, we believe the best ideas come from those who live and breathe patient care every day—nurses.
From the earliest prototypes to final product development, we worked closely with nurses to understand their challenges, habits, and frustrations around sharps disposal. Their feedback highlighted real issues—containers that overflow too quickly, lids that are hard to open, and systems that interrupt workflow.
These insights were pivotal in refining the Smart Disposal System. Contactless operation was a direct response to infection control concerns. Clear fill indicators addressed frustrations with unexpected overflows. Flexible mounting options came from the need to accommodate various workspaces, from emergency rooms to small clinics.
What we built was not just a piece of equipment—it was a tool co-created with those who needed it most. When healthcare workers see their feedback implemented, it fosters a deeper sense of ownership and trust. And when that happens, adoption becomes second nature.
The Smart Disposal System is a reflection of the voices that shaped it—practical, protective, and made for the frontline.
